How Duo Expeditions work

Queue with one friend (or matchmake as a pair) — no need to wait for or recruit a third player.
Difficulty scaling: the expedition still scales toward a 3-player party, so a duo is a bit harder than a full trio because you have one less player — but it’s not as punishing as solo.
Runes: in co-op, enemies your team kills grant rune rewards to everyone in the group.

How to play a Duo Expedition with a friend

Set a shared Multiplayer Password (Network Settings → Multiplayer Password) if you want to guarantee you match each other.
Pick the Duo expedition option and queue together.
Embark — no third player required.

Duo vs Solo vs Trio — which is easier?

Trio (3): easiest in raw terms — full aggro spread + team revives.
Duo (2): slightly harder than trio (scales toward 3), but easier than solo.
